Black Screen but Phone Still Works

If you feel haptics or incoming calls ring but the panel stays black, the issue may be display, backlight, or software drawing a black screen—not a dead phone.

Try first

• Force restart the device.
• Ask Siri to increase brightness; toggle VoiceOver off if enabled.
• Connect to a computer—does Finder or iTunes show the device?

If the computer sees the phone

Back up immediately via i4Tools or Finder, then seek display service. If nothing responds, see Apple logo / boot issues.
