iCloud Storage Full: First Steps

When iCloud is full, backups may fail silently and Mail stops syncing. Triage largest buckets first.

High-impact deletes

Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → review Backup, Photos, Messages.
Delete old device backups you no longer own.
Remove large attachments in Messages.
Turn on Optimize iPhone Storage for Photos if originals live in iCloud.

For a local archive on Windows, pair iCloud cleanup with desktop backup and free up storage.
