i4Tools Compatibility
Find out which iPhones, iPads, and iOS versions work with i4Tools, and what you need on your Windows, Mac, or Linux computer. Compatibility can change with new i4Tools and iOS releases—always use the latest i4Tools version when possible.
Supported iOS Devices
i4Tools is designed to work with Apple devices that use the iOS (or iPadOS) operating system and connect via USB.
iPhone
i4Tools generally supports current and recent iPhone models, including (but not limited to):
- iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series
- iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS, XR, X
- iPhone 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus
- iPhone SE (1st, 2nd, 3rd generation)
- Older models running a supported iOS version
iPad
- iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini
- Standard iPad models
- Devices running a supported iPadOS/iOS version
iPod Touch
iPod touch models that support a compatible iOS version can be used with i4Tools for backup, restore, and file management.
Supported iOS / iPadOS Versions
i4Tools typically supports a wide range of iOS and iPadOS versions. Newer iOS releases are usually supported shortly after they are officially released. For the best experience:
- Keep your device on a stable, publicly released iOS/iPadOS version.
- Update i4Tools to the latest version from the download page or official site.
- Some features (e.g. certain iCloud or jailbreak-related options) may only work on specific iOS versions.
Computer Requirements
Your computer must meet the following to run i4Tools and connect to your device.
Windows
- OS: Windows 7 / 8 / 10 / 11 (32-bit or 64-bit)
- RAM: 2 GB minimum (4 GB or more recommended)
- Disk: 500 MB free space or more
- iTunes installed (for Apple USB drivers and services)
- Working USB port for the device cable
Mac
- OS: macOS 10.12 (Sierra) or later
- RAM: 2 GB minimum (4 GB or more recommended)
- Disk: 500 MB free space or more
- iTunes (or Finder on newer macOS) for device support
- Working USB port (or appropriate adapter for USB-C)
Linux
- Distros: Ubuntu 18.04+ or Debian 10+ (or equivalent)
- RAM: 2 GB minimum (4 GB or more recommended)
- Disk: 500 MB free space or more
- libimobiledevice and related packages installed
- Working USB port
Connection Requirements
- USB cable: Use an original or MFi-certified Lightning or USB-C cable. Faulty cables often cause “device not detected” or restore errors.
- Trust: On the iOS device, tap “Trust This Computer” when prompted and enter your passcode.
- Unlock: Keep the device unlocked (or recently unlocked) when connecting so it can be recognized.
Feature-Specific Compatibility
Some i4Tools features depend on device model and iOS version:
- Backup & Restore: Works across supported devices and iOS versions.
- Firmware flashing: Depends on Apple signing the iOS version. See Firmware Flashing.
- iCloud bypass: Only on certain devices and iOS versions; use only on devices you own. See iCloud Bypass.
- Jailbreak support: Depends on the jailbreak tool and iOS version. See Jailbreak.
